Start saying NO (except to bacon, burgers and beer)

Because it’s good for:

  • Business
  • Relationship (with women)
  • Selfgrowth

What does NO mean?

No means focus. No means long term benefit, patience, character. No means thinking out of the box.

Alexander the Great said no and cut the Gordian Knot. He refused to accept the usual way of dealing with the knot by trying to untangle it, took out his sword and cut it in half.

Riblja Corba, The Balkan Keith Richards, once said “No, I do not want to become an animal“. Look at him now. Einstein.

A no means YES for possibilities and opportunities that otherwise you miss.

Business.

Would you say yes to every client that would want to work with you?

Imagine you are the head of an IT  outsourcing company. 10 different clients come to you and each one asks for a development team that knows a different programing language, framework or platform. And you say yes to each and every one of them.

Sounds very lucrative doesn’t it?  In reality what this says about you is that your business does not have a specific focus. Try and find a company or business that is great at everything in a particular industry.

You become great when you start focusing on a specific niche and tending to that niches’ needs and wants.

Relationships.

I know it’s dumb to ask but, do you say YES to every woman you meet? Actually, let me rephrase that.

Would you have sex with every woman you see?

If you are a very congruent person, with a specific lifestyle, life purpose and passion, then specific types of  women attract you and you them. The more congruency and character the more attraction you emit.

Same as in business, only here women are not a market. Go for the ones that you know are good for you and will benefit you and them on the long run.

Self.

Do you choose what you do or let other choose it for you? Are a person that knows what he wants and knows how to get it?

The more you say no to things that you do not want to and are not good for you, the stronger and more in control you become.

How do you know when to say NO?

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Is this good for me/my business?
  • Will this benefit me on the long run?
  • Is this something i love to do? Will this make me happy?
  • Would this make me an animal?

And decide.

Are there exceptions to this rule?

Yes. Never say no to:

  • bacon.
  • burgers.
  • beer.

It is like saying no to life. Why would you want to say no to life?

Cheers,

bb
